Memoir 1942.

Memoir titled "My First Destroyer--USS Buck" of his days as a junior officer aboard USS Buck (DD 420) in 1942 after graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. As part of the Atlantic Fleet, sailed along the East Coast and the Caribbean, escorted convoys to North Africa and Sicily, protected U.S. ships at Salerno, attacked by a German submarine and abandoned ship, rescued by a British LTC and landed at Palermo, Sicily; returned to the USA. Includes epilogue, Fate-of-U-616 that torpedoed USS Buck, general information, select bibliography, and appendix of survivors and those lost, disposition of the deceased and list of MIA's and those KIA. Memoir published by Naval Historical Foundation Oral History Program, 2006.
